About Access Arborists
Access Arborists was founded by David Watts, an arboricultural consultant and practising arborist with over 15 years' experience helping clients understand, manage and care for trees.
Throughout his career, David has worked across a wide range of sectors including local government, commercial forestry, planning and development, ecological consultancy, infrastructure and private land management. This breadth of experience has shaped the approach that underpins Access Arborists today: combining professional arboricultural advice with practical tree management.
Unlike many consultants, David continues to work on the tools. Equally, unlike many tree contractors, consultancy remains at the heart of the business. This combination means clients benefit from advice that is not only technically robust, but also practical, realistic and informed by first-hand experience.
Access Arborists works with landowners, estates, local authorities, schools, churches, developers and commercial organisations, providing independent advice alongside specialist tree management where required. Whether carrying out a tree safety inspection, supporting a planning application, undertaking a specialist climbing inspection or managing mature trees on site, every project is approached with the same attention to detail and commitment to good arboriculture.
David believes that successful tree management is about making informed decisions. Trees are valuable assets that often require careful balancing of safety, ecology, amenity and long-term stewardship. His role is to help clients navigate those decisions with clear advice, sound professional judgement and practical solutions.
As a small independent practice, clients deal directly with David throughout their project. This continuity allows long-term relationships to be built on trust, consistency and a thorough understanding of both the trees and the client's objectives.
